Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce

Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 4.3.0 or above to version 4.9.0

There are no additional steps required for the upgrade.

Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 4.2.2 or earlier to version 4.3.0

  1. Refer the Migrating from CSV lookups to KV store lookups under Enable saved searches for the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce section for detailed steps.


Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 4.0.0 to version 4.2.2

There are no additional steps required for the upgrade.

Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 3.0.0 to version 4.0.0 and above

  1. Navigate to the Apps menu of your Splunk platform deployment, and click on the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce.
  2. Click on the Inputs tab, and disable all configured inputs.
  3. Download and install the latest version of the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce. See the Install from Splunkbase topic in this manual.
  4. Restart your Splunk platform deployment.
  5. Navigate to the Apps menu of your Splunk platform deployment, and click on the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce.
  6. For each configured input for which data needs to be collected on an hourly interval, select Edit
  7. Select Hourly from the Monitor Interval dropdown.
  8. Click Update.
  9. Click on the Inputs tab, and enable all applicable inputs.

Data duplication may take place for approximately 24 to 48 hours when switching configured inputs from a daily monitoring interval to an hourly monitoring interval. Data loss may take place for approximately 24 to 48 hours when switching configured inputs from an hourly monitoring interval to a daily monitoring interval. If a new input is created with the '''Monitoring Interval''' set to '''Hourly''' or '''Daily''', and no additional switches take place, data duplication or loss will not take place. Data collection is set, by default, to collect for the last 30 days.

Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 2.0.0 to version 3.0.0

No special steps are required to upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce from version 2.0.0 to version 3.0.0. Follow the steps in Install the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce to do a standard add-on installation.

Upgrade the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce to version 2.0.0 from an earlier version

The Splunk Add-on for Salesforce version 2.0.0 introduces breaking changes. If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce, you must complete the following steps to prevent data loss.

To upgrade to version 2.0.0 from an earlier version of the Splunk Add-on for Salesforce, you must reauthenticate your accounts:

  1. Before upgrading, disable all your configured inputs.
  2. Upgrade to version 2.0.0.
  3. In the add-on, go to the Configuration > Account page.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. There are two authentication methods from which to choose:
    1. Basic authentication
    2. OAuth 2.0
  6. Click Update to save your credentials.
  7. After authenticating, enable your configured inputs.
