I need to change the ports Splunk uses. How can I do this?

In the Splunk web interface go to Admin > Server > Settings. You can change the ports there. You will be prompted to restart the server for the settings to take effect.


I want to clear out my index. How do I do that?

Run the command $SPLUNK_HOME/bin/splunk help clean to see options for erasing all of your data, or just specific indexes.
