About Splunk Manager
Options for configuring Splunk from within Splunk Web are collected in the Splunk Manager. To access Splunk Manager, log into Splunk Web and click Manager in the upper right.
Users with admin privileges can access all the areas of Manager.
System configurations
From the System configurations area, manage:
- System settings: Manage general settings for this Splunk instance, including Splunk Web port, host name and path to indexes.
- Server controls: Restart Splunk.
- License: View license usage statistics and apply a new license.
- Distributed search: Set up distributed search across multiple Splunk instances.
- System logging: Adjust Splunk logging verbosity.
- Email alert settings: Specify settings for all emailed alerts, such as email server and format.
- Indexes: Create new indexes and manage index size preferences.
- Data inputs: Add data to Splunk from scripts, files, directories and network ports.
- Forwarding and receiving: Configure this host to send and receive data.
- Authentication method: Specify authentication method (Splunk or LDAP).
- Users: Manage user settings, including password and email address.
- Roles: Manage roles, set granular access controls and search restrictions.
Apps and knowledge
- Apps: Edit permissions for installed apps. Create a new app, or browse Splunkbase for apps created by the community.
- Searches and reports: View, edit and set permissions on searches and reports. Set up alerts and summary indexing.
- Event types: View, edit and set permissions on event types.
- Field extractions: View, edit and set permissions on field extractions.
- Views: Create and edit UI pages for an app.
- Navigation menus: Create and edit navigation menus for your app.
- Search commands: Set permissions on python-based search commands.
- All configurations: See all configurations across all apps.
