About business metrics
You may have a lot of business information in your logs, but it often needs some translation to be easily human readable. A very simple example of this is the status codes in Apache logs -- if you want to count how many times customers are hitting pages that don't exist, you just have to count 404 errors. But when you present this type of information to a non-technical user, you need to make sure to show the meaning, not just the raw data.
This walkthrough describes how to:
- take a saved search and translate obscure numeric codes into meaningful labels using lookups
- use lookups in your searches
- create a dashboard that contains your lookup search
This walkthrough is still under construction.
