Install Splunk App for WAS

You now have the latest version of the App, splunk_app_was_beta-<build number>.tar.gz available on your network. You can install it on the systems where you are running your Splunk indexer/search heads. Note: If you have not already downloaded the App, see Download Splunk for WAS for download instructions.

To install the Splunk App for WAS onto your indexer(s) and search head(s):

  1. On each indexer and search head that you want to include as part of the Splunk for WAS environment, unpack the tar.gz file directly to the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps directory.
    How to do this depends on your underlying OS. See the table below for specific Linux or Windows instructions:
On... Use these instructions...
Linux use the commands:

sudo gunzip <filename>.tar.gz
sudo tar -xvf <filename>.tar

Windows Download a third party tool (such as WinRAR) to unpack a tar.gz file on windows.To download WinRAR go to http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm.

Now the Splunk App for WAS is installed on the Indexer(s) and search head(s) in your environment, restart Splunk. On Windows, restart the processes splunkd and Splunk Web $SPLUNK_HOME/bin/splunk restart

Important: Do not edit any configuration files at this time.
