Associate data with locations using Splunk AR

You can set up beacons or create geofences in the Splunk App for AR or in the Splunk AR mobile app. To associate the beacon or geofence with a dashboard, you must use the Splunk AR mobile app. Use the Splunk App for AR to set up beacons to use with object detection or to create geofences to associate dashboards with in the Splunk AR mobile app.

Navigate to the the Locations tab of the Splunk App for AR to add and manage beacons and geofences.

Prerequisites

Complete the following before adding or managing beacons and geofences in the Splunk App for AR:

• Install the Splunk App for AR. See Install the Splunk App for AR.
• Ensure you have the appropriate permissions. See Configure Splunk AR roles and permissions for more information.

Add a beacon

See About beacons with Splunk AR to learn more about beacons and how they work.

Provide a UUID

Before creating a single beacon, provide a UUID to save a beacon region so that Splunk AR can detect beacons.

1. Click + Create Region.
2. Enter a beacon region title.
3. Enter a beacon region UUID.
4. Click Save.

Create a single beacon

Provide a UUID before creating a single beacon. Here's how to create a beacon in the Splunk App for AR:

1. Click + Create Beacon
2. Select Single.
3. Enter a beacon title.
4. Select a beacon region.
5. Enter a major value.
6. Enter a minor value.
7. Click Save.

Create multiple beacons

You can create multiple beacons at a time to scale your beacon deployment or to quickly set up object detection for multiple assets. Here's how to create multiple beacons in the Splunk App for AR:

1. Click + Create Beacon.
2. Select Multiple to create multiple beacons.
3. Download the provided .CSV file.
4. In the .CSV file, Enter the beacon region UUIDs, major values, and minor values.
5. Upload the .CSV file.
6. Click Save.

Create a geofence

See About geofences with Splunk AR to learn more about geofences and how they work. You can also associate this geofence with a dashboard in the Splunk AR mobile app. See Create and use geofences with Splunk AR in the Use Splunk AR manual.

Create a geofence

1. Click + Create Geofence
2. Enter a geofence title.
3. Enter a geofence radius.
4. Enter the latitude coordinate for the geofence center. Round to the fifth decimal place.
5. Enter the longitude coordinate for the geofence center. Round to the fifth decimal place.
6. Click Save.

Create multiple geofences

You can create multiple geofences at a time to scale your geofence deployment or to quickly set up object detection for multiple assets. Here's how to create multiple geofences in the Splunk App for AR:

1. Click + Create Geofence.
2. Select Multiple.
3. Download the provided .CSV file.
4. In the .CSV file, enter the geofence radius, latitude, longitude, and ID values.
5. Upload the .CSV file.
6. Click Save.

Edit a beacon or geofence

You can edit beacon region titles, beacon titles, and geofence details in the Splunk App for AR.

1. In the Locations tab of the Splunk App for AR, click the edit icon next to the beacon region, beacon or geofence that you want to edit.
2. Edit the beacon region, beacon, or geofence.
3. Click Save.

To delete a beacon region, beacon, or geofence, click the delete icon next to the beacon region, beacon, or geofence you want to delete. You can also select multiple beacons, beacon regions, or geofences to delete. This action is irreversible.

If you delete a beacon region, all beacons using that region will also be deleted.
