About the Splunk Add-on for Cisco IPS

Version 2.1.6
Vendor Products Cisco IPS sensors that use the SDEE data format (versions 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0)
Viisible in Splunk Web No. This add-on does not contain any views.

The Splunk Add-on for Cisco IPS allows a Splunk administrator to consume, analyze, and report on Cisco IPS data that conforms to the Security Device Event Exchange (SDEE) standard. The add-on includes a scripted input to bring your IPS data into the Splunk platform as well as knowledge objects (source type definition, field extractions, event types, and tags) to help you view and interpret that data with the Splunk CIM. You can then use the data with other Splunk apps, such as Splunk Enterprise Security and the Splunk App for PCI Compliance.

Comments

The software requirements for all add-ons are dependent on the software
requirements and specs of Splunk Enterprise, on which they all depend.
Python ships with Splunk Enterprise in the standard download and the Heavy
Forwarder. We tested the add-on with versions 6.2, 6.1, and 6.0.

I checked the license credits
(http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.3/ReleaseNotes/Python) in
the Splunk Enterprise release notes and see that:
* versions 6.0.0 - 6.1.8 shipped with Python 2.7.5.
* versions 6.2.0 - 6.2.3 shipped with Python 2.7.8.

I hope this helps!
