About Splunk DB Connect

Splunk DB Connect lets you enrich and combine your machine data with database data. You can use the app to configure database queries and lookups in minutes via the Splunk Web interface.

Quickly deploy Splunk Enterprise for real-time machine data collection, indexing, analysis, and visualization. Then use Splunk DB Connect to import and index the data already stored in your database to gain more insight.

Furthermore, database lookups let you reference fields in an external database that match fields in your event data. Using these matches, you can add more meaningful information and searchable fields to enrich your event data.

Hi Tony (prtlin). Our deployment requirements for DB Connect 1.x are listed at http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/1.2.2/DeployDBX/Deploymentrequirements. We have not tested DB Connect 1.x wth Windows Server 2012R2, so unfortunately we cannot support running DB Connect 1.x on that version. You might be able to do it, but the only supported version of DB Connect for Windows Server 2012R2 is DB Connect 2.x. Because DB Connect 2.x is the latest version of DB Connect and no further feature work is being done on DB Connect 1.x, we have no plans to introduce support at this time.

if we have splunk enterprise installed on Windows Server 2012R2, does it work with DB connect 1.X? Or do we need 2.X?

Hi Rajeev. Splunk DB Connect is only compatible with Splunk Enterprise at this time. Splunk Light is not supported.

Hi,

DB Connect version 1.x does not support Greenplum or Oracle Timesten. Our development team is evaluating the possibility of including support for these in our forthcoming update of the app.
