What's new in 1.2?

  • You can determine file compression when exporting files to HDFS. In the Export to HDFS page, a new slider bar allows you to set compression from 0-9.
  • You can read and index a variety of new file types, including SequenceFile, bizp2, Snappy, LZO, and Avro.
  • You can map Kerberos principal names to local OS user names.
  • You can configure Hadoop Connect to work with High-availability clusters.
  • We have retired the exporthdfs search command. A new search command, dump, allows you to format, export, partition, and compress search results into a specified base path.
  • Support for the additional Hadoop Distributions:
    • Apache Hadoop versions
      • 1.0.4

Known issues for Splunk Hadoop Connect

Splunk Hadoop Connect currently does not offer support for the MapR HDFS implementation, but does support NFS mounted MapR filesystems via the local export option. (SPL-58420)

Resolved Issues for Splunk Hadoop Connect

  • Command Injection with Event Data and Hadoop Connect App. (ERP-2041)
  • Hadoop Connect does not work with CDH 5.x out of the box. (ERP-1104)
  • Hadoop Connect: failed to rename .hdfs file. (ERP-1451)
  • UI limits number of exports visible to 30. (ERP-1434)
  • Errors under "Scheduled Export Job Status" in job_details page not properly formatted. (ERP-106)
