Convert from hourly pricing to a license

In certain cases it might be more economical to use a Hunk term license rather than hourly pricing. Before performing the steps described below, contact your Splunk sales representative to get a license key.

Convert your license using the Hunk user interface

1. In Hunk, navigate to Settings > Licensing > Add License to add your license to Hunk and remove the hourly license "Hunk License - EMR OEM License" from the list of licenses.

2. Wait ten minutes for the cache to clear.

You can also use the command line to clear the license cache:

rm -rf /opt/hunk/var/run/splunk/hunk/aws/emr/

Convert your license using the command line

1. Log in to your Hunk instance and run the following command:

sudo su hadoop

2. Make a backup of the hourly license using the following command:

mv /opt/hunk/etc/licenses/enterprise/hunk-emr-oem.lic
/opt/hunk/etc/licenses/enterprise/hunk-emr-oem.lic.bak

3. Add the new license to the directory:

/opt/hunk/etc/licenses/enterprise/

4. Clear the license cache:

rm -rf /opt/hunk/var/run/splunk/hunk/aws/emr/

5. Restart:

/opt/hunk/bin/splunk restart

.
