Important information about installation and users

Many Hunk features require communication between various aspects of third-party databases, Hunk, and Splunk Enterprise. To make it easier to configure these features as you need them, we recommend that you install or configure everything with the same user names and credentials:

  • Splunk Enterprise
  • Hunk
  • HDFS nodes, if applicable
  • S3 or other database applications

If you plan to search or archive data from Splunk, you should also install and/or configure these same user names on the following:

  • Splunk Enterprise
  • Splunk Indexes
