Special instructions for upgrades to 6.3 from versions 6.1 or later

The package that you install for Hunk functionality has been renamed for 6.1. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Splunk and Hunk release and are updating to 6.1 or later, you must take the following steps to accommodate the new naming convention:

1. Stop your existing Splunk instance:

splunk stop

2. Find the folder for your existing installation, labelled "Hunk." Rename it to "Splunk:"

mv hunk splunk

3. Unzip the new Splunk .tgz file:

tar -xvf splunk-6.xxxxxxxxx.tgz

4. Start Hunk and accept the license:

splunk start

Once you have completed the above steps, you do not need to repeat the process for future releases.

Note:You may also need to update your search heads, see Upgrade Hunk
