Step 4: Configure your search head

Now configure your search head by installing Java and the Hadoop Client Libraries. Keep note of the location of JAVA_HOME and HADOOP_HOME, you'll need that information when you set up a provider.

1. Hunk requires Java 1.6 or later (1.7 is recommended).

Note: If you need to check to make sure you have this, you can try this command:

which java | xargs readlink -f | xargs dirname | xargs dirname

and you should see something like this:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0.x86_64/jre

If you cannot find your jdk, or need to install an updated version, you should be able to use this command. Install the java binaries in: /usr/lib/jvm/:

# yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk

2. Check and see if you have the Hadoop client library already installed

it should already be installed in /usr/lib/hadoop.
