Overview of Splunk IT Cloud

Splunk IT Cloud prevents service interruptions and reduces the mean time to restore service. Splunk IT Cloud is available in standard and plus editions, each with individual host-based pricing. A host is a physical or virtual instance that reports metrics or log data to Splunk Cloud. Non-virtualized environments have physical hosts, and virtualized or public cloud environments have virtual hosts. A host can have up to 64 GB of memory.

Serverless functions, such as Amazon Web Service Lambda or Microsoft Azure Functions, are classified as a separate type of host with per-function pricing.

The following editions each have their own set of features, capabilities, and limitations.

Edition Description
IT Cloud - Standard edition Get started with IT use cases and infrastructure monitoring. This edition includes IT Essentials Work, a free version of Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) that lets you ingest and monitor entities from a variety of data sources like VMware and Microsoft Windows. It provides data integrations and investigation tools for operating systems, virtual infrastructures, containers, and cloud services.
IT Cloud - Plus edition Access a fully-featured AIOps platform and end-to-end visibility into KPIs for business and IT services. This edition includes the entire ITSI application, including Service Insights and Event Analytics. You can use the monitoring tools in this edition to detect problems, simplify investigations, triage issues, and accelerate resolutions. Ingest events from across your IT landscape and from other monitoring silos to provide a unified operational console of all your events and service-impacting issues.
