Removed features in Splunk IT Service Intelligence
This page lists computing platforms, browsers, and features for which IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) has deprecated or removed support in version 4.6.0.
What does "removed" mean?
When ITSI removes support for a feature, browser, or platform, it means that the feature, browser, or platform no longer works with the ITSI platform, and customers must find an alternative.
Classic glass table framework - ADVANCE NOTICE
In the next major ITSI release, you will no longer be able to create or clone glass tables in the classic framework. You will still be able to edit existing classic glass tables. The beta framework will become the official and only framework going forward, so it's recommended that you begin to use this new framework exclusively. For more information, see Overview of the beta glass table editor in ITSI.
ITSI summary index - ADVANCE NOTICE
In a future major ITSI release, the ITSI summary index (itsi_summary
) will be deprecated and eventually removed. As of version 4.6.0, KPI data is summarized in a new metrics-based summary index called itsi_summary_metrics
in addition to the events-based itsi_summary
index. The new index provides a more responsive UI experience and improves the performance of searches dispatched by ITSI.
To prepare for the eventual deprecation of the ITSI summary index, start to migrate correlation searches, dashboards, and any other searches that search against the itsi_summary
index to search against the itsi_summary_metrics
index instead. For information about metrics indexes and how to search against them, see Metrics indexes in the Splunk Enterprise Metrics Manual.
There will be more specific advance notice in the documentation as well as in the ITSI UI at least two releases before the summary index is officially deprecated.
Real-time searches in ITSI views
Real-time searches such as Real-time and All time were removed from the time range pickers in the following ITSI views:
- Service analyzers
- Deep dives
- Episode Review
- Multi-KPI alerts
VMware Add-on for ITSI
The VMware Add-on for ITSI, which was used to collect VMware performance data in SAI versions 2.0.x and 2.1.x, was removed from the ITSI package in version 4.6.0. To collect VMware data in SAI version 2.2.0 and later, you need to use the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. If you were already collecting VMware data in a previous SAI version, you need to upgrade to the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. For more information, see About VMware vSphere integrations in SAI. The VMware data collection component configuration has been removed from SAI and now exists in the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics.
For a compatibility matrix showing different versions of SAI with various VMware products, see SAI compatibility with VMware apps and add-ons.
