Install the Splunk App for ServiceNow on Splunk Cloud

If you want to use the Splunk App for ServiceNow on Splunk Cloud, you may find that it is already installed on your Splunk Cloud instance. The sections below provide instructions to check if you have it already installed, upgrade or obtain the files you need, or how to get assistance from support to install or upgrade.

Follow the instructions in the section that matches your Splunk Cloud URL:

URLs with the pattern https://prd-*.cloud.splunk.com

1. In Splunk Cloud, click the Splunk > icon in the upper left corner to go to the home screen.

2. Click the gear icon at the top of the left navigation bar to access your Manage Apps page. Find the Splunk App for ServiceNow in the list of apps. Check the folder name and version.

  • If you see the folder name splunk_app_servicenow and the version number is 4.0.3, you have the latest version. If the app is currently disabled, click Enable under the Status column to enable it. Go to step 5.
  • If you see the folder name snow_event_management and version number 3.0, you have an old, unsupported version of the app. You must install the new one. Go to step 3.
  • If you cannot find the app listed at all, you do not have the app installed. Go to step 3.

3. If you have verified that you do not currently have the correct version of the Splunk App for ServiceNow in your app list, click Browse more apps.

4. In the search bar, enter ServiceNow.

a. Look for Splunk App for ServiceNow in the results.
b. Click Install free.
c. Follow the wizard to install the app.

5. Verify that the Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow appears in the app list on your Manage Apps page. You need both the app and the add-on installed. If the add-on appears in the list, check the version number.

  • If the version number is 2.8.0, you have the latest version. If the add-on is currently disabled, click Enable under the Status column to enable it. Go to step 8.
  • If the version number is anything less than 2.8.0, click Upgrade. Follow the wizard to install the latest version. Follow the migration guide in the Release Notes of the Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow manual, part of the Supported Add-ons documentation, to prepare to use the new version. Then, go to step 8.
  • If you do not have the Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow listed at all, go to Step 6.

6. If you have verified that you do not currently have the Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow in your app list, click Browse more apps.

7. In the search bar, enter ServiceNow.

a. Look for Splunk Add-on for ServiceNow in the results.
b. Click Install free.
c. Follow the wizard to install the add-on.

8. If you have been using a version of the Splunk App for ServiceNow that is older than version 4.0.0, see "Migrate from the community-supported version of the Splunk App for ServiceNow" for important information about changes in this version. If you are not migrating from a pre-4.0.0 version, you can proceed directly to "Set up the Splunk App for ServiceNow".

URLs with the pattern https://*.splunkcloud.com

1. In Splunk Cloud, click the Splunk > icon in the upper left corner to go to the home screen.

2. Click the gear icon at the top of the left navigation bar to access your Manage Apps page. Find the Splunk App for ServiceNow in the list of apps. Check the folder name and version.

  • If you see the folder name splunk_app_servicenow and the version number is 4.0.3, you have the latest version. Go to step 4.
  • If you see the folder name snow_event_management and version number 3.0, you have an old, unsupported version of the app and you need to install the new one. Go to step 3.
  • If you cannot find the app listed at all, you do not have the app installed. Go to step 3.

3. If either the app is not installed or you have an old, unsupported version, contact support for assistance. Support will install the correct version of the app and its dependencies, and assist you with any migration tasks, if they are necessary.

4. If you have been using a version of the Splunk App for ServiceNow that is older than version 4.0.0, see "Migrate from the community-supported version of the Splunk App for ServiceNow" for important information about changes in this version. If you are not migrating from a pre-4.0.0 version, you can proceed directly to "Set up the Splunk App for ServiceNow".
