Changes for Splunk App developers

If you develop apps for Splunk Enterprise, read this topic to find out what changes we've made to how Splunk Enterprise works with apps in version 6.1, and how to migrate any existing apps to work with the new version.

We have made significant improvements to alert e-mail configurations

We now support custom e-mail alerts. If you had previously overwritten sendemail.py to customize your email alerts, you should review those enhancements to see if you need to continue making those customizations.

We have added support for <panel> elements in dashboards

We have added functionality to dashboards to support "<panel>" elements. These elements support in-panel form inputs and are a replacement to row grouping. While we have not deprecated the row grouping functionality, we strongly recommend that you use <panel> to create dashboards going forward.

No changes to search

There have been no changes made to any search-related elements at this time.
