Single-instance DMC setup steps

This topic is an overview of the steps you'll take to set up your distributed management console (DMC) to monitor a single Splunk Enterprise instance and its forwarders, and to use the DMC's platform alerts. To configure DMC monitoring on a Splunk Enterprise deployment, see "Multi-instance deployment setup steps."

  1. Make sure your instance meets the prerequisites.
  2. Set up DMC in standalone mode.
  3. Set up forwarder monitoring if you want to use the DMC's forwarder dashboards.
  4. Enable preconfigured platform alerts.

Verify the prerequisites on your instance. See DMC setup prerequisites.
