Changes for Splunk App developers

If you develop apps for the Splunk platform, read this topic to find out what changes we've made to how the software works with apps in version 6.4, and how to migrate any existing apps to work with the new version.

Splunk Mobile developers can now use HTTP Event Collector to send data to Splunk Enterprise

Splunk Mobile developers who use version 5.x or later of the Splunk MINT SDK can now use HTTP Event Collector (HEC) to send data to Splunk Enterprise after an update to version 6.4.

The custom alert actions framework now has support for JavaScript interpreters

Beginning with version 6.4, Splunk developers can now write alert scripts in JavaScript without having to include their own JavaScript interpreter.

Developers can now create custom setup pages for their apps

Beginning with version 6.4, Splunk app developers can now create custom app setup pages by referencing the page in app.conf within their app. They can create the page in standard HTML, or use Simple XML or Setup XML.
