Splunk® Deployment Monitor App (Legacy)

Deploy and Use Splunk Deployment Monitor App

Upgrade the Deployment Monitor from a pre-5.0 version

The name of the Deployment Monitor installation directory has changed in version 5.0. To upgrade from a pre-5.0 version of the Deployment Monitor, install the new version as a fresh install (not an upgrade).

As part of the upgrade process, you can also migrate local settings, such as any custom alerts that you created in the previous version.

Here's the basic outline of the upgrade procedure:

1. Disable the pre-5.0, existing version of the Deployment Monitor app. See "Manage app and add-on objects" in the core Splunk documentation.

2. Install the new 5.0 or later version of the app, using one of the installation procedures described in the topic "Install the Deployment Monitor".

3. If you want to retain any pre-5.0 settings, move them from $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/SplunkDeploymentMonitor/local to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk_deployment_monitor/local.

4. Delete the old $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/SplunkDeploymentMonitor directory.
