Splunk® ODBC Driver

Install and Use Splunk ODBC Driver

Hardware and software requirements for the Splunk ODBC Driver

You must install the Splunk ODBC Driver on the machine in your environment that runs the application you want to use it with, whether that's Microsoft Excel, Tableau Desktop, or Microsoft Power BI (Microsoft Windows machines only). However, it does not need to be installed on the computer that is running the Splunk software.

Though running the Splunk ODBC Driver and the Splunk software on the same machine is a supported configuration, you can use the Splunk ODBC Driver to connect to a Splunk platform instance running on any supported platform, including Mac OS X, RedHat and SUSE Linux 32/64-bit.

Configure the Splunk ODBC driver to direct your data towards a single Splunk instance. Search head clusters are not supported.

This screenshot shows an example of a distributed deployment where the Splunk ODBC driver is not installed on the computer that is running the Splunk software.
