Edit workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway

You can adjust, edit, or delete workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway.

Prerequisites

Before editing AR workspaces and visualizations, make sure the following requirements are complete:

Edit a workspace

You can adjust objects and add notes or media to your workspace:

  1. In Splunk Cloud Gateway, navigate to the Splunk AR tab.
  2. Navigate to the Workspaces tab.
  3. Next to the workspace you want to edit, select Edit > Edit Workspace.
  4. Refer to the following table to use the workspace editor:
Action How to
Move an object
  1. Select an object.
  2. If the X, Y, and Z axis aren't visible, click the Move object button in the toolbar.
  3. Drag an axis or a square to move the object:
    1. Drag an axis to move the object along its respective plane.
    2. Drag a square at the intersection of the axis to move the node freely along its plane.
Rotate an object.
  1. Select an object
  2. Click the Rotate object button in the toolbar.
  3. Drag a ring to rotate the objects along its respective orbital axis.
Resize an object.
  1. Select an object
  2. Click the Resize object button in the toolbar.
  3. Drag an object corner to resize the object.
Focus on object
  1. Select an object
  2. Press the Focus on object button in the toolbar to re-center your view on the selected object.
Add a note or media
  1. Click + next to Notes & Media.
  2. Select the type of media or note you want to add.
  3. Add media or enter your note.
Measure distance between objects
  1. Select an object.
  2. Press and hold the spacebar.
  3. Hover over another object. The distance between the two objects appears.

Here's how to change the unit of measurement:

  1. Click Preferences.
  2. Next to Show measurements in, select centimeters or inches.
  3. Click save.

Click the save button when you're done editing the workspace.

Delete a workspace

You can delete a workspace after unregistering the asset associated with it.

  1. In Splunk Cloud Gateway, navigate to the Splunk AR tab.
  2. In the Assets tab, select the asset associated with the workspace.
  3. Click Unregister Selected.
  4. Navigate to the Workspace tab.
  5. Next to the workspace you want to edit, select Edit > Edit.

Preview an asset dashboard in a workspace

You can preview a different asset dashboard in your workspace.

  1. Under asset preview, click Select an Asset.
  2. Select an asset or asset group whose dashboard you would like to preview in this workspace. You can search for an asset or asset group.
  3. Click Preview. The asset dashboard visualizations populate the object list.
  4. You can now do any of the following:
    1. Click Clear to remove the asset dashboard you're previewing.
    2. Keep editing.
    3. Click the save button to replace the previous asset dashboard with the asset dashboard your previewing.

Adjust workspace editor view

You can adjust the workspace editor view so you can easily edit your workspace. With Splunk Cloud Gateway version 1.12.0 or later, you can change the unit of measurement, adjust the workspace editor grid size, and invert the workspace editor view.

Action How to
Adjust environment The barcode represents the asset location. Adjust the environment to view the object positions relative to the asset.
  • Drag anywhere in the 3D space to rotate the 360 degree view.
  • Use your mouse or trackpad to scroll to zoom in or out
Re-center view
  1. Click the Re-center view button in the toolbar to focus on the barcode.
Adjust the workspace editor grid size
  1. Click Preferences.
  2. Next to the Show grid lines every field, enter your desired workspace editor grid size.
  3. Click save.
Invert the workspace editor view
  1. Click Preferences.
  2. Toggle the Invert Camera switch.
  3. Click Save.
