Populate the Deployment Monitor with historical data

In previous releases of Deployment Monitor, populating the Deployment Monitor with historical data was a manual process that you initiated through the Backfill Data link on the Home dashboard. This is no longer the case. Deployment Monitor now uses the report acceleration feature of Splunk version 5.0, which backfills data automatically.

To view the accelerated reports that Deployment Monitor uses, go to Manager > Report Acceleration Summaries. You will see four report summaries created by the Deployment Monitor:

  • indexers_summary_10m
  • forwarders_summary_10m
  • sourcetypes_summary_10m
  • pools_summary_10m

By default, Deployment Monitor backfills three months of data. It also prunes data older than three months. To change the span of the backfill, select a report to edit it. Change the value in the Summary range field.

See the topic "Manage report acceleration" in the Knowledge Manager Manual for detailed information on report acceleration.
