Configure Splunk Cloud Gateway and dashboard permissions

Admins must configure the appropriate permissions in Splunk Web to enable normal users and power users to use Splunk Cloud Gateway and view dashboards on their mobile devices.

By default, admins have the cloudgateway_read and cloudgateway_write capabilities, and therefore have full access to the Splunk Cloud Gateway app.

Configure both user permissions and dashboard permissions.

Prerequisites

Configure Splunk Cloud Gateway permissions

Admins must grant all users the cloudgateway role so that they can use Splunk Cloud Gateway. With the cloudgateway role, users can register and remove devices, create AR workspaces, and configure Connected Experiences apps with Splunk Cloud Gateway.

To add or remove a user from the cloudgateway role, do the following:

  1. Log in as a user with the Splunk admin role.
  2. In Splunk Web, click Settings > Access Controls.
  3. Click Users.
  4. Click Edit next to the user you want to update.
  5. In the Assign to roles section, click cloudgateway to add or remove it.
  6. Click Save.

See Add and edit users in the Splunk Enterprise Securing Splunk Enterprise manual for more information about access controls.

Configure dashboard permissions

Configure dashboard permissions in the Dashboards tab of Splunk Web for users to view dashboards and visualizations in the Connected Experiences apps.

To configure dashboard permissions so that users can view dashboards in the Connected Experiences apps, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards tab of Splunk Web.
  2. Click Edit > Edit Permissions next to the dashboard you want to configure permissions for.
  3. Click All Apps if the dashboard isn't from the Search & Reporting app, or click App if the dashboard is from the Search & Reporting app.
  4. Click Save.

See Configure dashboard permissions in the Splunk Enterprise Dashboards and Visualizations manual for more information about configuring dashboard permissions.
