New features

New feature or enhancement Description
New entity schema

There's a new schema for handling entities. The new schema maintains any existing groups, alerts, and custom dimensions you created with the previous entity schema. The new schema replaces collectors.conf with entity_classes.conf.

The schema migration process automatically starts when you upgrade to this version. During the migration process, SAI creates a backup of all your local conf files and metadatafiles. For more information about the entity migration process to the new schema, see Migrate to the new entity schema.

Splunk Connect for Kubernetes version update

When you configure SAI to monitor Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters, SAI now deploys Splunk Connect for Kubernetes version 1.3.0. For more information about SCK, see the Splunk Connect for Kubernetes 1.3.0 release documentation in the Github repository.

For information about upgrading to SCK version 1.3.0, see these topics:

Custom dimensions

You can use . and $ in custom dimension names.

You can no longer use = in custom dimension names.

SSL

Enable SSL when you configure the easy install script for *nix and Windows hosts. You may want to disable SSL if you're using self-signed certificates. If you're using Splunk Cloud, keep this option enabled.
