Add Microsoft Windows data: Single instance

Install the Splunk Add-on for Windows on the universal forwarder

  1. Download the Splunk Add-on for Windows from Splunkbase.
  2. Unpack the .tgz package.
  3. Place the resulting Splunk_TA_<add-on_name> folder in the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps directory on your forwarder.
  4. Remove transforms.conf.spec from the $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/Splunk_TA_windows/README directory.
  5. Restart the universal forwarder.
