Install or upgrade Splunk AI Assistant for SPL

Before you can begin using Splunk AI Assistant for SPL you must review and sign the legal terms for the app. This specialized End-User License Agreement (EULA) covers data usage and is only accessible if you have a Splunk.com account. You must be a customer with an active Splunk Cloud Platform subscription on an AWS commercial stack who has accepted the Splunk AI Assistant for SPL EULA to access version 1.0.0 or higher.

After reviewing and signing the EULA you will receive an update by email. This email might take up to 4 days to arrive. The email will notify you that Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is unrestricted and now available to you for download and installation.

Install Splunk AI Assistant for SPL

Install with the in-product app browser. The command line interface (CLI) is not required. When using the in-product app browser search by "AI Assistant" to find the listing for Splunk AI Assistant for SPL (Cloud Version) as shown in the following image:

You can install Splunk AI Assistant for SPL on a single search head (SH) or a search head cluster (SHC). Installation of Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is also supported on premium product search heads such as Splunk Enterprise Security or Splunk ITSI.

Both Classic and Victoria Experience customers can self-install Splunk AI Assistant for SPL without the need of a restart. See Install apps on your Splunk Cloud Platform deployment.

You can download Splunk AI Assistant for SPL (Cloud Version) from Splunkbase and install it on your activated cloud stack. You cannot install Splunk AI Assistant for SPL as a private app when downloaded from Splunkbase and uploaded.

The app download is only available for the account associated with the signed EULA. You cannot install Splunk AI Assistant for SPL as a private app when downloaded from Splunkbase and uploaded.

Once installed, Splunk AI Assistant for SPL runs as a separate component of Splunk Cloud Platform (SCP) called AI Service. All the AI compute is offloaded to AI Service and no AI compute runs on the customer's search head. See Where Splunk AI Assistant for SPL runs.

You can use version 1.1.0 of the app for as long as you have an active Splunk Cloud Platform subscription.

Upgrade Splunk AI Assistant for SPL

You can upgrade to the current version of Splunk AI Assistant for SPL from any 1.0.x version. You do not need to sign another EULA or uninstall your current version. to upgrade.

Upgrade using the in-product app browser. When using the in-product app browser search by "AI Assistant" to find the listing for Splunk AI Assistant for SPL (Cloud Version) as shown in the following image:

Supported regions

Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is only available to Splunk Cloud Platform customers on an AWS commercial stack. Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is not compatible with Splunk Trial stacks. Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is available in the following regions:

Splunk AI Assistant for SPL version 1.0.0 or higher is compatible with supported versions of Splunk Cloud Platform. Keep your instance of Splunk Cloud Platform up to date to ensure you can install and use Splunk AI Assistant for SPL.

Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is not available for on-premises Splunk Enterprise customers.
