Register assets for Splunk AR in Splunk Cloud Gateway

Associate assets with Splunk data so Splunk AR users can consume, interact with, and take action with data where it lives. You can register an asset on Splunk Cloud Gateway or in the Splunk AR mobile app.

Prerequisites

Complete the following before registering assets in Splunk AR:

Register an asset

Register an asset and associate it with Splunk data for Splunk AR users to view and interact with. You can create AR workspaces from dashboards that have up to nine single value or gauge visualizations.

  1. Navigate to the Splunk > AR tab in Splunk Cloud Gateway.
  2. In the Assets tab, click Register New Asset.
  3. Enter an asset name.
  4. Enter an Asset ID, such as a barcode number. Or leave the field blank to generate one.
  5. Select an asset display.
    Choose AR workspace to associate augmented reality data with the asset, or Splunk Dashboard to associate a non-AR dashboard with the asset.
  6. Select a compatible dashboard.
  7. Configure the asset display. Refer to the following table to configure an AR workspace or Splunk dashboard:

    1. Select a compatible dashboard.
      The list shows dashboards that are compatible with AR workspaces. AR workspaces support up to nine numeric single value or gauge visualizations.
    2. Select a workspace template.
      Select New to adjust the AR visualizations from a standard default position. Select Existing to start with the position of an existing workspace. See AR workspaces as templates to learn more about workspace templates.
    3. If you create a new workspace, enter a workspace name. If you choose an existing workspace, select from a list of workspaces with the same number of panels as the selected dashboard. The data from the dashboard panels will populate the AR visualizations.
    4. Click Confirm.

    1. Select a compatible dashboard.
      The list shows dashboards that are compatible with the Connected Experiences apps. See Visualization support for Connected Experiences apps.
    2. Click Confirm.
  9. The asset name appears in the Splunk > AR tab. Select Get QR code or Get NFC URL to get a Splunk-generated asset.
  10. Set up and scan the asset to view the AR workspace or Splunk dashboard.
  11. Adjust the workspace.

  12. Tap save.

If you want AR visualizations to update automatically, specify a refresh interval in the original dashboard before creating the AR workspace. You'll have to recreate the AR workspace if changes are made after creating the AR workspace.
