Add and edit AR workspace notes using Splunk AR
You can add notes to your AR workspaces to clearly describe your data.
Prerequisites
Do the following before adding and editing AR workspace notes:
- Install Splunk Cloud Gateway on your Splunk Enterprise search head.
- Enable Splunk AR in the Configure tab of Splunk Cloud Gateway.
- You have the appropriate user permissions.
- You have the appropriate AR workspace permissions.
- Splunk AR users have registered their devices.
- Have access to an asset. See Register an asset.
- Have good even lighting for scanning image-based assets.
Add a text note
- Scan an asset to view an AR workspace.
- Select the AR workspace or a visualization.
- Tap the + button.
- Type the note you want to add.
- Tap Save.
Add a video note
To add a video note to an AR workspace, the video must be hosted on Dropbox. The URL link that must point directly to a .mp4 file. The URL link doesn't have to end with .mp4. To get a .mp4 video link, follow these steps:
- Obtain a .mp4 file of the video you would like to add to an AR workspace.
- Upload the .mp4 file to Dropbox to get a URL.
For example:https://ar-video-notes.s3.amazonaws.com/Hospital+recording.mp4
- Copy and paste the video URL link into your browser.
- Replace
?dl=0
with?raw=1
. This generates a direct raw .mp4 video link. - Press enter. This creates a new link in your browser.
- Copy the new link.
- Paste the link into an email or messaging app to send the link to your mobile device.
- On your mobile device, copy the link.
After copying the video link on your mobile device, follow these steps to upload a video note to an AR workspace:
- Scan an asset to view an AR workspace.
- Select the AR workspace or a visualization.
- Tap the + button.
- Enter a the link to the .mp4 video.
- Tap Next.
- Enter a title for the video note.
- Tap Next. The video note is added to the AR workspace.
Videos must be hosted on Dropbox. Splunk AR video notes are not compatible with other content management systems.
Edit a note
- Scan an asset to view an AR workspace.
- Tap a note.
- Tap the pen button to edit the note.
- Edit the note.
- Tap Save.
Delete a note
- Scan an asset to view an AR workspace.
- Tap a note.
- Tap the trash button.
- Tap Delete.
Reposition and resize a note
Reposition and resize notes the same way you would adjust a visualization. See Adjust AR workspaces and visualizations to learn how to adjust a visualization.
