Edit AR workspaces using Splunk AR or Splunk Cloud Gateway

After retrieving an AR workspace, you can adjust its dimensions, placement, and visualization positions in the Splunk AR mobile app or in Splunk Cloud Gateway. Admins can edit or delete workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway without having to scan an asset tag with a mobile device.

Prerequisites

Before editing AR workspaces and visualisations, make sure the following requirements are complete:

• Install Splunk Cloud Gateway on your Splunk Enterprise search head.
• Enable Splunk AR in the Configure tab of Splunk Cloud Gateway.
• You have the appropriate user permissions.
• You have the appropriate AR workspace permissions.
• Register your device.
• Have access to an AR workspace QR code or NFC tag created in Splunk Cloud Gateway.
• If you're scanning an NFC tag, see Save AR workspace placement with NFC tags to set up a detection image so that you can save the orientation of your workspaces for future scans.
• Have even lighting for scanning image-based assets.

Edit a workspace in the Splunk AR mobile app

See the following steps to edit a workspace in the Splunk AR mobile app.

Resize the workspace or a visualization

1. Scan an AR workspace asset.
2. Tap the workspace name to resize the workspace, or tap a visualization to resize a visualization.
3. Pinch or expand your fingers to resize the workspace or visualization.
4. Tap Save.

Reposition the workspace or a visualization

1. Scan an AR workspace QR code or NFC tag.
2. Long press the workspace name to reposition the workspace, or long press a visualization to reposition a visualization.
3. While holding the workspace name or visualization, move your device. The workspace or visualization moves with your mobile device.
4. Release the workspace or visualization where you want to place it.
5. Tap Save.

Edit workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway

You can adjust, edit, or delete workspaces in Splunk Cloud Gateway.

You must scan an asset tag and associate the asset with a dashboard in the Splunk AR mobile app before you can edit a workspace in Splunk Cloud Gateway.

Edit a workspace

You can adjust objects and add notes or media to your workspace.

1. In Splunk Cloud Gateway, navigate to the Splunk AR tab.
2. Navigate to the Workspace tab.
3. Next to the workspace you want to edit, select Edit > Edit Workspace.
4. Refer to the following table to use the workspace editor:

Action	How to
Adjust environment	The barcode represents the asset location. Adjust the environment to view the object positions relative to the asset. Drag anywhere in the 3D space to rotate the 360 degree view. Use your mouse or trackpad to scroll to zoom in or out.
Move an object	Select an object. If the X, Y, and Z axis aren't visible, click the Move object button in the toolbar. Drag an axis or a square to move the object: Drag an axis to move the object along its respective plane. Drag a square at the intersection of the axis to move the node freely along its plane.
Rotate an object.	Select an object Click the Rotate object button in the toolbar. Drag a ring to rotate the objects along its respective orbital axis.
Resize an object.	Select an object Click the Resize object button in the toolbar. Drag an object corner to resize the object.
Focus on object	Select an object Press the Focus on object button in the toolbar to re-center your view on the selected object.
Re-center view	Click the Re-center view button in the toolbar to focus on the barcode.
Add a note or media	Click + next to Notes & Media. Select the type of media or note you want to add. Add media or enter your note.

Click the save button when you're done editing the workspace.

Preview an asset

You can preview a different asset dashboard in your workspace.

1. Under asset preview, click Select an Asset.
2. Select an asset or asset group whose dashboard you would like to preview in this workspace. You can search for an asset or asset group.
3. Click Preview. The asset dashboard visualizations, notes, and media populate the object list.
4. You can now do any of the following:
   1. Click Clear to remove the asset dashboard you're previewing.
   2. Keep editing.
   3. Click the save button to replace the previous asset dashboard with the asset dashboard your previewing.

Delete a workspace

You can delete a workspace after unregistering the asset associated with it.

1. In Splunk Cloud Gateway, navigate to the Splunk AR tab.
2. In the Assets tab, select the the asset associated with the workspace.
3. Click Unregister Selected.
4. Navigate to the Workspace tab.
5. Next to the workspace you want to edit, select Edit > Edit.
