Configure input for the Personal Health Dashboard

AWS Personal Health Dashboard provides a personalized view into the performance and availability of the AWS services you are using, as well as alerts that are automatically triggered by changes in the health of those services. To view the AWS Personal Health dashboard in the Splunk App for AWS, perform the following configurations in the AWS Management Console and the Splunk Add-on for AWS.

1. Log in to the AWS Management Console.
2. Create an Amazon SNS topic. See http://docs.aws.amazon.com/sns/latest/dg/CreateTopic.html.
3. Create a CloudWatch events rule for AWS Health. Select Amazon SNS topic as the target to use with the rule. See http://docs.aws.amazon.com/health/latest/ug/cloudwatch-events-health.html.
4. Create an Amazon SQS queue. See http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSSimpleQueueService/latest/SQSDeveloperGuide/sqs-create-queue.html.
5. Subscribe the Amazon SQS queue to the SNS topic you created in step 2. See http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSSimpleQueueService/latest/SQSDeveloperGuide/sqs-subscribe-queue-sns-topic.html.
6. In Splunk Add-on for AWS, add the SQS input. See Add an SQS input for the Splunk Add-on for AWS.
7. Check your AWS Personal Health dashboard in the Splunk App for AWS.
