About the Content Pack for Splunk AppDynamics

The Content Pack for Splunk AppDynamics enables you to import Splunk AppDynamics applications into IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) as services. Once applications are imported to service sandboxes in ITSI, you can configure and test isolated sandboxes without impacting your production environment. Use the content pack to create, configure, and monitor Splunk AppDynamics services and entities for performance management and service health analysis.

This content pack is designed to work with the Splunk Add-on for AppDynamics. It uses data collected through the add-on's configuration of Splunk AppDynamics REST APIs to ensure accurate insights, allowing you to correlate metrics and get a complete view of your application performance.

Content pack features

The Content Pack for Splunk AppDynamics provides the following features:

• Entity searches to discover and create entities based on ingested Splunk AppDynamics data. You can enable these searches manually or through the guided installation of the content pack.
• Entity types to group entities that have similar data sources and manage entities in bulk.
• Vital metrics that describe the performance of entity types.
• Entity dashboards that enable you to access and monitor data for different entity types.
• Service templates that provide predefined service properties to create and manage multiple services. Any changes you make to a template are applied to all linked services.
• KPI base searches, which enable you to share a search definition across multiple KPIs to reduce search load and improve search performance.
