Deploy and Use Splunk DB Connect

This documentation does not apply to the most recent version of Splunk® DB Connect. For documentation on the most recent version, go to the latest release.

Upgrade and downgrade Splunk DB Connect

Upgrade from version 2 to DB Connect version 3.10.0 or higher

Due to changes introduced in Splunk DB Connect version 3.10.0 and higher, you cannot migrate directly from Splunk DB Connect 2 to versions 3.10.0 and higher. To migrate from DB Connect 2, migrate to a version of DB Connect 3 first (versions 3.0.0 to 3.9.0) and then upgrade to a higher version. Find migration instructions to version 3.9.0 in the previous version of this documentation.

Downgrade from DB Connect version 3.14.0 or higher to DB Connect version 3.13.0 or lower

Due to changes related to encryption algorithm introduced in 3.14.0, if you need to downgrade to a version prior to 3.14.0 you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Open $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk_app_db_connect/local/dbx-migration.conf in edit mode.
  2. Go to the [encryption] stanza and change downgrade from NONE to PENDING.
  3. Restart Splunk DB Connect.

Upgrade from DB Connect version 3.13.0 or lower to DB Connect version 3.14.0 or higher if you've previously downgraded Splunk DB Connect

  1. Open $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk_app_db_connect/local/dbx-migration.conf in edit mode.
  2. Go to the [encryption] stanza and change upgrade from DONE to PENDING.
  3. Restart Splunk DB Connect.

Note: For more useful information, you can refer to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk_app_db_connect/README/dbx-migration.conf.spec.
