Configure your Edge Hub WiFi network

To configure your Edge Hub network for WiFi, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

  1. In the Splunk Edge Hub Advanced Settings page, navigate to the Network configuration tab.
  2. Specify your configuration using the following options:
Option Description
Enable Auto Refresh if turned on, the Edge Hub scans the available WiFi networks every 30 seconds and refreshes the list of available networks. Alternatively, you can manually scan the available networks by clicking on the Available WiFi Networks tab.
Available WiFi Networks Displays the current list of available and configured WiFi networks. For WiFi networks that have already been configured, a color code and tooltip message is included.
  • Green means the Edge Hub is currently successfully connected to this network.
  • Orange means the Edge Hub has already connected to this network, but it's currently not connected. For example, it's connected to another network, not in range, or so on.
  • Red means the last attempt to connect to this network failed, for example, because of an incorrect password.

You can select a WiFi network to visualize or configure the current connection settings on the right side of the page.

if a WiFi network isn't automatically detected, click Enter.

WiFi protocol Selects the authentication suite used by this WiFi network. You can only edit the WiFi protocol if you manually configure the WiFi SSID. Edge Hub currently supports the WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Enterprise protocols.
WiFi SSID The SSID of the current WiFi network that you're configuring.
WiFi password The password used to connect to the current WiFi network.
WiFi connection Controls how the Edge Hub establishes a connection to this WiFi network:
  • Automatic - High Priority
  • Automatic - Standard Priority
  • Automatic - Low Priority
  • Manual

The default is Automatic - Standard Priority.

Manual connects to this WiFi network only when you click on Connect Now in the Advanced Settings.

The Edge Hub prioritizes the WiFi connection with the highest priority when multiple connections are available. However, if Edge Hub is currently connected to a lower priority connection when a new, higher priority connection becomes available, Edge Hub will not automatically disconnect from the current connection.

Update Now The currently displayed configuration will be applied now.
Update on Finish The currently displayed configuration will be saved, but will only be applied after disconnecting from the server specified in Advanced Settings by clicking the Finish Registration button.
Revert Discards any changes specified in the UI and reverts to the current status of the connection. Deletes the configuration if the configuration has been saved, but not applied.
Disconnect Disconnects the current WiFi network, but keeps its configuration.
Forget Disconnects the current WiFi network and deletes its configuration.

If the Edge Hub was connected to another WiFi network, it will disconnect from that network if you click Connect Now, Disconnect or Forget, which might cause you to lose connectivity to the server specified in Advanced Settings if you were using that connection.
