Configure your Edge Hub Ethernet network

To configure your Edge Hub network for Ethernet, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

  1. In the Splunk Edge Hub Advanced Settings page, navigate to the Network configuration tab.
  2. Specify your configuration using the following options:
Option Description
IP assignment You can choose either DHCP and Manual (static IP).
IPv4 address Displays the current IP address of the Edge Hub. This field should be formatted according to the CIDR notation. You can configure the IPv4 address by selecting Manual mode under DNS Server Selection.
Gateway Displays the IP address of the gateway the Edge Hub is connected to.
DNS Server Selection Select Automatic or Manual.
  • if Automatic and IP assignment are set to DHCP, the list of DNS servers is retrieved from the DHCP server.
  • if Automatic and IP assignment are set to Manual, the DNS server defaults to the gateway address.
  • if Manual and IP assignment are set to DHCP, the list of DNS servers provided by the DHCP server will be ignored and the user must manually enter the DNS server.
  • if Manual and IP assignment are set to Manual, the user must enter the IP address of the DNS.
DNS servers Displays the current list of DNS servers associated with this connection. You can add additional DNS server in Manual mode using Add row
DNS priority Set to Low, Medium, or High. The default is Medium.

If multiple connections are active, the DNS server from the connection with the highest DNS priority is used.

Routing priority Set to Low, Medium, High. If multiple connections are active, the network traffic is routed to the connection with the highest priority.

The default priority for Ethernet is High, the default priority for WiFiis Medium, and the default priority for Cellular is a Low.

Last connection Displays the local time of the last successful Ethernet connection, if applicable.
Status message Displays the current connectivity status:
  • This connection is active means that this connection is running.
  • This connection failed means the last attempt to connect failed.
  • This connection is configured but inactive means the user configured this connection, but it's currently inactive. For example, the Ethernet cable is not connected, WiFi is disconnected and so on.
  • This connection is not configured means this connection needs additional configuration before it can be used.
  • New configuration will be applied on 'Finish Registration' means the connection was pre-configured by the user, but will be activated only when the user logs out of the server by clicking the Finish Registration button in the Advanced Settings page.
Update Now The currently displayed configuration will be applied now.
Update on Finish The currently displayed configuration will be saved, but will only be applied after disconnecting from the server specified in Advanced Settings by clicking the Finish Registration button.
Revert Discards any changes specified in the UI and reverts to the current status of the connection. Deletes the configuration if the configuration has been saved, but not applied. For example, the configuration might have been saved, but not applied, if you clicked Update on Finish.
