Splunk® Universal Forwarder

Splunk Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders

Remotely upgrade the Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders

To remotely upgrade the Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders:

  1. Download the Remote Upgrader app and included signature file from splunkbase.com.
  2. In the app, copy the package and signature file from the default folder to the local folder. (You can skip this step if you plan to distribute the package manually.)
  3. Put the new Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders package and its signature file in the /local/packages directory.
  4. Distribute the latest package either manually or by using your deployment server. If you distribute the package manually you do not need to copy the package or signature file to the local directory.
  5. If you keep your universal forwarder and the included Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders package in /local/packages directory, Splunk will upgrade the Remote Upgrader for Linux Universal Forwarders first, and then upgrade the universal forwarder.
