New Features for Splunk IT Essentials Work

Version 4.9.x of IT Essentials Work is available for both Splunk Cloud Platform and Splunk Enterprise customers. It contains the following features and enhancements.

New feature Description
Alerts Review page You can view alerts caused by changes in the vital metrics for entity types in your environment in a single dashboard on the Alerts Review page. For more information, see Overview of Alerts and Episodes in IT Essentials Work.
Configure vital metric alerts You can now configure alerts to receive notifications when vital metrics for entity types cross a specific threshold. The alerts created are stored as notable events. For more information, see Configure vital metric alerts.
ITSI Content Library and Content Packs You can now install the Splunk App for Content Packs from Splunkbase to install content packs to ITSI using the ITSI Content Library. Content packs include pre-configured knowledge objects that you can use or reference to quickly set up your IT environment. The following content packs can be installed in ITE Work:
  • Content Pack for Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Content Pack for AWS
  • Content Pack for Microsoft Exchange
  • Content Pack for NetApp
  • Content Pack for Unix
  • Content Pack for VMware
Unpackaging SAI from IT Essentials Work When you install Splunk IT Essentials Work, the Splunk App for Infrastructure (SAI) is no longer automatically installed on the same search head. You must enable entity discovery saved searches in order to continue monitoring your SAI entities.
