Prerequisites

Install and configure ITSI or IT Essentials Work in your environment.

Step 2: Install the Content Pack

The Splunk App for Content Packs contains the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports. The content pack contents are automatically installed and start running when you install the Splunk App for Content Packs on the search head with ITSI or IT Essentials Work.

See the installation instructions for the Splunk App for Content Packs.

Install the content pack through the REST API

On ITSI version 4.9.x, you can use the itoa_interface/content_pack endpoint to install content packs through the ITSI REST API. The endpoint includes GET operations to fetch versioning information and preview what is included in the content pack, as well as a POST operation to install content packs.

Step 3: Enable data model acceleration

The acceleration of the data model NetApp_ONTAP is disabled by default. Enable acceleration for this data model to populate the data on dashboards packaged in the content pack. An admin can enable data acceleration or change the acceleration period.

Perform the following steps on the search head to enable NetApp_ONTAP data model acceleration.

  1. In Splunk Web, navigate to Settings > Data Models.
  2. From the App list, select IT Service Intelligence (ITSI)/IT Essentials Work to see the data models defined and used by the Content Pack for NetApp Data ONTAP Dashboards and Reports.
  3. Click Edit next to the data model you want to enable acceleration for and select Edit Acceleration.
  4. Select Accelerate.
  5. Select the summary range to specify the acceleration period or keep the default selection.
  6. Click Save.
