Release notes for the Content Pack for Monitoring Unix and Linux

The latest version of the Content Pack for Monitoring Unix and Linux was released on October 27, 2021. The following sections explain the contents of the current and past releases of the content pack.

Version 1.1.0

Version 1.1.0 provides support for metrics index data and is released with Splunk App for Content Packs version 1.4.0. The following table describes the contents of Version 1.1.0:

New feature or enhancement Description
Add Metrics support You can visualize events and metrics index data using ITSI objects.

Version 1.0.2

Version 1.0.2 is updated to be compatible with the Splunk App for Content Packs version 1.0.0 and later.

Version 1.0.1

Version 1.0.1 is updated to include compatibility with ITSI version 4.7.0 and later.

Version 1.0.0

The following table describes the contents of BACKUP-CP-NIX-OS-1.0.0.zip:

New feature or enhancement Description
KPI base searches The following KPI base searches that you can tune for your environment:
  • OS:Performance.NIX-bandwidth
  • OS:Performance.NIX-cpu
  • OS:Performance.NIX-df
  • OS:Performance.NIX-iostat
  • OS:Performance.NIX-vmstat
*nix service template A service template called Unix and Linux server health for monitoring OS health metrics for CPU, memory, disk, and network. The KPIs in this service template are tuned for general use cases.
Sample OS service A sample service called SAMPLE - Unix and Linux server health, linked to the *nix service template and disabled by default. Use this service to test entity filtering and KPI thresholds.
