KPI reference for the Content Pack for Splunk Synthetic Monitoring

The Content Pack for Splunk Synthetic Monitoring contains 10 services. This includes a service per Web Optimization Test or Synthetic Check, as well as a top-level synthetic check that inherits them all. For each of these service types, there are KPIs used to help you monitor the health of your web applications. There is also a template service that you can use to create a custom configuration, see Create a custom configuration of the Content Pack for Splunk Synthetic Monitoring.

Note that these KPIs don't have predefined thresholds configured. For steps to configure KPI thresholds, see Configure KPI thresholds in ITSI in the Service Insights manual.

Service	KPI	Description
Synthetic Checks
Browser Checks	Failure	Indicates the Browser Check failed to respond.
	Response Code	The response code returned by the Browser Check.
	Response Time	The time to respond from the Browser Check.
	Response Time	The elapsed time for the response by the API segment.
API Checks	Failure	Indicates the API Check failed to respond.
	Response Code	The response code returned by the API Check.
	Response Time	The time to respond from the API Check.
HTTP Checks	Failure	Indicates the HTTP Check failed to respond.
	Response Code	The response code returned by the HTTP Check.
	Response Time	The time to respond from the HTTP Check.
	Days Since Last Error	The number of days since the last error was detected by this HTTP Check.
Web Optimization Tests
Web Site Test	Performance Score	The score returned from a test configured to check an entire website.
Single Page Test	Performance Score	The score returned from a test configured to look at one single URL.
Bulk Pages Test	Performance Score	The score returned from a set of URLs you specify to test.
Scripted Test	Performance Score	The score returned from a script you create to test multiple parts of a website.
HAR Test	Performance Score	The score returned from a HAR (HTTP ARchive format) definition created from your website.

Example Synthetic Monitoring Service (per check)	Dom Load Time	How long the website took to load the complete document object model.
	First Interactive Time	How long before the website was interactive for the user.
	Fully Loaded Time	How long before the website fully loaded and stopped loading any more content.
	Lighthouse Score	An industry score for the overall performance of a website.
	Server Errors	The number of errors returned for this website.
	Speed Index	An industry score for how fast a website is.
	Total Blocking Time	The time a website is blocked while being redrawn for the user.
	Total Content Bytes	The total amount of bytes of a website check.
	Visually Complete Time	How long it took a website to become visually complete even if other scripts are still running.
