Known Issues for Splunk App for Infrastructure

The Splunk App for Infrastructure 1.2.2, released on December 6, 2018, has the following reported known issues and workarounds.

Date filed and Release Issue Number Description
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2439 Upgrading from Splunk Insights for Infrastructure to Splunk Enterprise leaves the custom "Splunk Insights for Infrastructure" login page.
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2463 CPU occasionally reporting "0"s or negative values on AWS Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2473 AWS configuration page keeps loading when Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure is not present.
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2487 Workspace alert side panel shows alerts that no longer exist.
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2885 Splunk Add-on for Windows 5.0.0 and later is not compatible with Splunk App for Infrastructure.
2018-10-02, 1.2.0 SII-2974 The Splunk App for Infrastructure and Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure are compatible with Splunk Enterprise 7.1.x and 7.2. In Splunk Enterprise 7.1, Windows Perfmon metrics collected by the Splunk App for Infrastructure do not show in the Entity and Group Workspaces, and are not compatible with the Overview charts in 7.2.

Workaround: Users that require Windows metrics can do either of the following:

  • If using Splunk Enterprise 7.1, it is recommended to store Windows and Linux metrics in separate indexes and update the macros for multi-index support.
  • Upgrade to Splunk Enterprise 7.2.
October 2, 2018, 1.2.0 SII-3022 The Add-on for AWS 4.5.0 is supported and to be used instead of the Add-on for AWS 4.6.0. The Add-on for AWS 4.6.0 is not supported, as it stops entity discovery due to a major change in the metric format and it will cause entity discovery issues.
2018-12-06, 1.2.2 SII-3095 When using Solaris, the tar -xzf unix-agent.tgz in copy-paste script on Add Data page might fail on some Solaris versions depending on tar file that was used.

Workaround: Use gunzip -c unix-agent.tgz | tar xvf -.
