Deployment architecture support

The Splunk App for Infrastructure supports the following architectures.

Architecture	Supported	Comments
Single-instance installation	Yes	For a simple and small deployment, install Splunk App for Infrastructure on a single Splunk platform instance. A single instance functions as both a search head and an indexer. In a single-instance deployment, Splunk App for Infrastructure, the required Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure, and optional Splunk Add-on for AWS must be installed on the same instance of Splunk Enterprise.
Distributed deployment	Yes	For a larger scale deployment, install the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a distributed environment of Splunk Enterprise. For instructions, see Set up the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a distributed deployment.
Cloud deployment	No	Not supported at this time.
