System requirements for Splunk App for Infrastructure
Review the following requirements before you deploy Splunk App for Infrastructure.

Splunk platform version requirements
The Splunk App for Infrastructure version 1.3.0 supports Splunk Enterprise 7.1.x-7.2.x on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X platforms, in single-instance and distributed environments. This version also supports also supports Splunk Cloud 7.1.x-7.2.x.
Splunk Add-on support and requirements
The Splunk Add-on for AWS version 4.5 is supported. The Splunk Add-on for AWS 4.6 is not supported.
Splunk App for Infrastructure requires the following Splunk Add-ons:
- Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure version 1.3.0.
- (Optional) Splunk Add-on for AWS version 4.5 if you are collecting data from AWS CloudWatch.
By default, the Splunk App for Infrastructure is not compatible with the Splunk Add-on for Windows. If you install the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a Splunk Enterprise deployment that runs the Splunk Add-on for Windows, modify props.conf
in the Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure directory and inputs.conf
in the universal forwarder app directory so that the app and add-on work as expected. To modify these .conf

Operating system support for data collection
The Splunk App for Infrastructure supports data collection from the following operating systems. For information about operating system support for installation, see Operating system support for installation.

Third-party requirements
If you are collecting metrics data from a *nix host, you must install collectd. Splunk Insights for Infrastructure is compatible with these versions of collectd:
- 5.7.x
- 5.8.x

*nix data collection requirements
The data collection script must be run by a user with administrator privileges on the system, and is compatible only with certain operating systems. For more information, see Operating system support for data collection.
For Mac OS X systems, the /usr/local/sbin
directory must exist on the system, and you must log in as a user that can write to the directory.
For AWS Linux AMIs, agent-based data collection is not available. For AWS monitoring, see Configure AWS Data Collection in the Administer Splunk App for Infrastructure guide.

The data collection script must be run by a user with administrator privileges.
The Windows system must have the following dependencies available:
- powershell
- Internet access (easy install script)
