Deployment planning for the Splunk App for Infrastructure

Deploy the Splunk App for Infrastructure (SAI) on a configured Splunk platform installation. Review the information on this page before deploying SAI.

For information about system requirements, see System Requirements for Splunk App for Infrastructure.

Deployment architecture support

The SAI supports the following architectures.

Architecture Supported Comments
Single-instance installation Yes

For a simple and small deployment, install SAI on a single Splunk platform instance. A single instance functions as both a search head and an indexer.

In a single-instance deployment, you must install SAI, the Splunk Add-on for Infrastructure, and optionally the Splunk Add-on for AWS on the same instance of Splunk Enterprise. For more information, see Install the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a single-instance deployment.

Distributed deployment Yes For a larger scale deployment, install SAI in a distributed environment of Splunk Enterprise. For more information, see Set up the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a distributed deployment.
Cloud deployment Yes To set up and configure SAI in a cloud deployment, Splunk Support must first install the app and enable HTTP event collection. For more information, see Install the Splunk App for Infrastructure in a Splunk Cloud deployment.
