What's new in Splunk App for Infrastructure

Splunk App for Infrastructure version 2.2.0 is a Splunk Cloud only release and is not available on-premises.

These release notes apply to the Splunk App for Infrastructure (SAI) version 2.2.0. For compatibility information, see System Requirements for Splunk App for Infrastructure.

New feature or enhancement Description
Integration with the Splunk Add-on for Unix and Linux You can now optionally collect *nix data with the Splunk Add-on for Unix and Linux installed on the Splunk universal forwarder. For more information, see Collect *nix data in SAI with the Splunk Add-on for Unix and Linux.
VMware Vsphere data Collect VMware Vsphere data with the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. For more information, see About VMware vSphere integrations in SAI.

Changes to the VMware vSphere integration in version 2.2.0

The VMware Add-on for ITSI was removed from the ITSI package in version 4.6.0. To collect VMware data in SAI version 2.2.0 and higher, you need to use the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. If you were already collecting VMware data in a previous SAI version, you need to upgrade to the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. For more information, see About VMware vSphere integrations in SAI.

The VMware data collection component configuration has been removed from SAI and now exists in the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics. For more information, see these topics in the in the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics manual:
