What's new in Splunk OVA for VMware Metrics

Version 4.2.0 of the Splunk OVA for VMware Metrics was released on January 5, 2020. Version 4.2.0 has the following new features.

New feature Description
Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics The OVA contains packages of Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics version 4.2.0. Version 4.2.0 collects performance data of vCenter, cluster, datastore, ESXi host, and virtual machines. You can filter the performance metrics collection of vCenter, cluster, ESXi host, and virtual machines by configuring the respective <entity>metric_allowlist and <entity>_metric_denylist. For more information, see Configure Metrics Allowlist/Denylist to filter performance data in the Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics manual.

The add-on also collects hierarchical data of vCenter entities as part of inventory data. Two performance metrics are collected by default in addition to the current default performance metrics. See Release notes for Splunk Add-on for VMware Metrics for detailed changes.

In addition, occurrences of biased terms in the add-on have been replaced with appropriate non-biased terms. See the release notes for the full list of changed terms.
