Release Notes for the Splunk Supporting Add-on for VMware

This is the first release of Splunk Supporting Add-on for VMware. The package was released on January 11, 2021.

What's new

In order to access the VMware dashboards related to VMware Capacity Planning and Forecasting from the ITSI app, one way could be to use the ITSI content pack feature. However, as the current content pack does not support dashboard/visualization to be fitted in it in its current version, so as an intermediate step, Supporting Add-on for VMware package was introduced and it contains the simple XML dashboards and required knowledge objects to populate dashboards.

The acceleration of the data models "VMwareInventory" is disabled by default. Enable acceleration for this data model to populate the data on the Virtual Machine Snapshots dashboard. See Enable Data model acceleration and use data models Enable Data model acceleration and use data models to learn how to enable data model acceleration.
