Splunk Secure Gateway release notes

Splunk Secure Gateway was released on October 22, 2020.

Splunk Secure Gateway is included in Splunk Enterprise version 8.1.0 and higher. Splunk Cloud currently doesn't support Splunk Secure Gateway.

Splunk Secure Gateway lets you register mobile devices and configure your mobile app deployment for the Connected Experiences apps. Splunk Secure Gateway also serves as the back-end infrastructure for delivering messages over a secure cloud bridge. This backend infrastructure is called Spacebridge.

Spacebridge is not SOC2 compliant. Spacebridge is hosted in the US-West-2 AWS location. Spacebridge is not hosted on HIPAA, PCI, or GovCloud environments.

Features

Splunk Secure Gateway offers the following features:

Feature Description
Enable the Connected Experiences mobile apps Splunk Secure Gateway is a required companion app for the following Splunk Connected Experiences mobile apps:
  • Splunk Mobile for iOS and Android
  • Splunk AR for iOS
  • Splunk TV for Apple TV, Android TV, and Fire TV
  • Splunk TV Companion
  • Splunk VR for Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift, Rift S
Register mobile devices Users can register their mobile devices to securely authenticate to a Splunk platform instance.
Configure and troubleshoot your Splunk Connected Experiences mobile deployment View the Splunk Secure Gateway status dashboard, manage registered devices, and optionally set up a Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployment.

Splunk Secure Gateway is used to configure and send information to all Connected Experiences apps, so issues pertaining to Splunk Secure Gateway pertain to all Connected Experiences apps.

Known Issues

This version of Splunk Secure Gateway has the following known issues:

2021-04-24 MSB-2158 Modular inputs don't run properly in Splunk Secure Gateway version 2.0.2

Workaround:
1. Run post install on the single instance or the search head captain.

2. cd to navigate to <splunk_home>/etc/apps/splunk_secure_gateway/lib/yarl. 2. Remove quoting.c, quoting.cpython-37m-x86_64-linux-gnu.so, quoting.py, _quoting.pyx.

The .so file may differ depending on the architecture of the instance.

3. Restart the instance or initiate a rolling restart.

2021-02-22 MSB-2029 Trellis visualizations require trellis.splitby option to have a field name value

Workaround:
Set the value of the "trellis.splitby" option to the desired result field name in the dashboard XML.
