Harden the network port that App Key Value Store uses

The App Key Value Store (or KV Store) which Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform use to maintain some configurations and metadata for Splunk apps, uses TCP network port 8191 for its communications with other Splunk software services. For more information about App Key Value Store, see About the app key value store in the Admin Manual.

For the most secure Splunk Enterprise environment, when possible, use firewall software to limit access to this port only to Splunk Enterprise machines that need access to the port.

If you use a search head cluster, open the port only to other members of the cluster so that those members can access the port to replicate KV store data.
