Special instructions for upgrades from Hunk to Splunk Analytics for Hadoop

If you are upgrading from a previous version of Hunk 6.3 or earlier and are updating to Splunk Analytics for Hadoop, you must take the following steps to accommodate the new naming convention:

1. Stop your existing Splunk instance:

splunk stop

2. Find the folder for your existing installation, labelled "Hunk." Rename it to "Splunk:"

mv hunk splunk

3. Unzip the new Splunk .tgz file:

tar -xvf splunk-6.xxxxxxxxx.tgz

4. Start Splunk Analytics for Hadoop and accept the license:

splunk start

Once you have completed the above steps, you do not need to repeat the process for future releases.
